He Was Underwater But Clothes Stayed Dry – Real “Glitch In The Matrix”!

03 Sep 2026

Sometimes coincidences happen that are so strange that a normal explanation almost seems insufficient. A person may see an event in a dream and then discover traces of it in real life, lose something and suddenly find it somewhere it absolutely should not have been, or experience a situation that feels like they have already lived through it once. Of course, there may be perfectly logical explanations for all of this... but some stories make you stop for at least a minute and wonder: what if we really are living in... the Matrix?!

The Dream Turned Out To Be Too Real...

What makes this story especially unsettling is that the dream apparently left a trace in... real life! Usually, we wake up, forget most of what we saw, and within a few minutes can no longer reconstruct the details. But here, the person claims they dreamed about a hole in the wall and an injured hand, only to wake up and find almost exactly the same hole in their actual kitchen...

1.jpg?format=webp

Of course, it could have been a coincidence, a forgotten event, or even the brain somehow processing information that was already there. But when a dream and reality match this specifically, it really does look creepy...

He Saw His Future Friends Before Ever Meeting Them...

Dreams sometimes have a strange way of bringing together faces and places we have never consciously seen before. But the most interesting part here is that the person claims he saw the future members of his band in a dream and even knew their names. He only met these people a year later.

2.jpg?format=webp

Perhaps his memory simply filled in the details after they met and gradually connected them to the old dream. But stories like this can create the feeling that the brain somehow took a quick look into the future... and that our script was already written.

When The Entire Office Suddenly Wore The Same Thing...

There is apparently no need for anything supernatural here - just an incredible coincidence. Several employees independently showed up to work wearing almost exactly the same outfit, even though they had not discussed it beforehand. One person doing this is a coincidence. Two is funny...

3.jpg?format=webp

But when almost the entire office chooses the same look, it starts to feel like someone pressed the “copy” button... The funniest part is that these kinds of coincidences usually happen precisely when nobody planned them.

The Sunglasses Disappeared For A Year... And Then Simply Came Back

Losing sunglasses is completely normal. But finding them a year later right in the middle of the driver's seat of your car, where they supposedly should have been noticed long ago, is a completely different story. Maybe they really got stuck somewhere and somehow only became visible much later.

4.jpg?format=webp

But it is precisely the lack of an obvious explanation that makes cases like this feel like a real “glitch in the Matrix.” Especially when the person is certain they had already checked that exact spot...

He Imagined His Hands Healing... And Then They Actually Looked Perfect

This story sounds almost like a scene from a science-fiction movie. The person was sitting at a traffic light, completely lost in thought, and started imagining putting some miracle lotion on his badly damaged hands. Some time later, he noticed that his skin actually looked completely healthy.

5.jpg?format=webp

Of course, it is important not to conclude that a single thought can instantly heal physical damage. Natural healing, perception, lighting, or other factors could have affected the condition of his skin. But the coincidence between such a vivid fantasy and what he saw afterward can still be incredibly unsettling...

He Saw His Friends As Old Men... And One Of Them Later Died

Probably the most disturbing story in this collection. During an altered state of consciousness, the person saw three of his friends as elderly men, while for some reason he could not see the fourth one at all. Eight months later, that same friend died in an accident. Obviously, there is no way to prove that the vision somehow predicted the future.

6.jpg?format=webp

After a tragedy, the brain is especially good at connecting random details from the past with what happened and giving them a completely new meaning. But that is exactly why memories like this can stay with someone for years...

The Mirror Showed A Movement He Didn't Make...

There is something about mirrors at night that makes them especially good at scaring people. Especially around three in the morning, when you are sleepy, the room is poorly lit, and your brain is not fully awake yet. In this story, the person noticed a movement in the mirror that seemed impossible, and the next day decided to test what was actually happening.

7.jpg?format=webp

Maybe it was simply caused by the way vision works, a reflection, or the movement of his own body. But the moment when a mirror seems to show you something you did not do is probably hard to forget...

He Fell Onto The Floor... Even Though The Bed Was Still In The Same Place

This one sounds like an actual scene from The Matrix. The person was sure the bed was pushed right up against the wall, so in the dark he simply threw himself onto it... and unexpectedly ended up on the floor. The strangest part happened after he turned on the light: the double bed was exactly where it was supposed to be, still pushed against the wall.

8.jpg?format=webp

Maybe he simply misjudged the direction or distance in the dark, and his brain automatically reconstructed the familiar layout of the room. But if you woke up after something like that in the middle of the night, your first instinct would probably not be to look for a logical explanation but to check whether reality itself had glitched...

The Hair Pin Disappeared... And Then Turned Up In Another Room

We lose tiny things all the time without giving it much thought but stories like this are genuinely creepy... A person dropped a hair pin, never heard where it landed, searched the floor several times and even got down on their hands and knees to look for it. Nothing... Then, some time later, the hair pin suddenly turned up on the floor in another room... Maybe it bounced much farther than expected, got carried there somehow, or the person simply failed to notice it earlier.

9.jpg?format=webp

But when something like this starts happening regularly - you put an object down in one place and find it somewhere completely different - it can start to feel like objects occasionally decide for themselves where they want to appear... Doesn't that sound like an actual Matrix glitch?

The Dog Charged At Him... And Then Simply Disappeared

This story already sounds like something straight out of a nightmare. A person was walking home when a huge, aggressive-looking dog suddenly appeared from the trees, snarling and running directly toward him. At one point it jumped, the person covered his head with his hands... and nothing happened.

10.jpg?format=webp

The dog was simply gone... No sound, no footsteps, no movement in another direction - as if it had never been there at all. Of course, fear and stress can seriously distort our perception, especially when everything happens within a few seconds. But the question remains: where did the dog go? We have no explanation...

The Same Car Drove Past Him Twice... Within Minutes

Déjà vu can sometimes be so intense that it literally makes you question your own memory. In this story, a child was walking to school, crossed the road and jumped over a fence but suddenly remembered that he had forgotten something at home. He went back to the apartment, grabbed whatever he had forgotten and walked back outside... where he saw exactly the same Dodge Ram Van driving past him the same way it had only moments earlier.

11.jpg?format=webp

By itself, seeing the same car twice proves nothing - the vehicle could have simply gone around the block or taken another route. But when someone is absolutely convinced that they experienced the exact same scene twice in a row, it is definitely strange. Especially if vehicles like that are rare in the area...

He Dreamed About A Brother... Who Did Not Even Exist Yet

Dreams can create such convincing stories that sometimes we remember them years later and suddenly notice strange coincidences. In this case, before his younger brother was even born, a person dreamed about a boy whom their father clearly loved more than everyone else and spoiled. Years later, their father revealed that he had another child with another woman.

12.jpg?format=webp

The boy was about two years old at the time... and according to the person who told the story, he really did become their father's favorite and was extremely spoiled. The strangest part is not even the similarity in personality but the timing of the dream - it supposedly happened around the time when the woman could have been pregnant...

He Dreamed Something Terrifying... Then Heard A Similar Story Days Later

Sometimes a coincidence is frightening not because something supernatural happens but because one story resembles another almost perfectly. A person had a nightmare about a man who had hanged himself from the railing of an apartment, after which his angry ghost tried to possess the dreamer's body. A few days later, the person accidentally overheard a classmate talking about her husband's friend, who had actually hanged himself from the railing of his apartment.

13.jpg?format=webp

Maybe the brain simply created a random storyline that later happened to resemble something the person heard. But when you have just seen a similar scene in a dream and then hear almost the same thing described in real life, it is difficult not to get chills...

He Remembered The Fall Of The Berlin Wall... Even Though He Was One Month Old

This is probably one of the hardest stories to explain rationally. A person claims to have an extremely detailed memory of the fall of the Berlin Wall: supposedly, they were at home with their parents, watching the event on television, hearing their conversation, smelling the food and even remembering kitchen utensils their mother was talking about. There is just one problem - they were approximately one month old when the historical event happened...

14.jpg?format=webp

Their mother suggested that perhaps they had seen a recording years later and mistaken it for a live broadcast. But some details of the conversation, which even she no longer remembered, made her genuinely shocked... and if someone really remembers details that nobody ever told them about... that's when rational explanations start becoming very difficult...

He Stopped Remembering His Dreams... And Then Something Very Strange Happened!

Sometimes the strangest coincidences involve our own thoughts. This person used to remember their dreams every morning but gradually, over several months, they stopped remembering them altogether. At some point, it even felt like they had stopped dreaming completely. Then they mentioned it to a coworker, and that very same night they had an incredibly vivid dream for the first time in roughly three months.

15.jpg?format=webp

It sounds like nothing particularly strange... except that after that, they stopped remembering their dreams again. In reality, people can absolutely dream without remembering their dreams - especially if they wake up at a different stage of sleep. But the timing of this story really is strange...

His “Double” Was Seen On The Other Side Of The Country!

Stories about doubles have existed for centuries but modern travel makes them even stranger. In this story, a friend called someone and said that he had just seen him at a particular place and had tried to say hello. The problem was that the real person was actually on the other side of the country at that exact moment. The friend was completely convinced that he had seen the right person, while the person himself had no idea who could possibly look so much like him.

16.jpg?format=webp

Most likely, it was simply someone with an incredibly similar appearance - the brain is surprisingly good at recognizing familiar faces even where they cannot possibly be. But when your friend calls you saying, “I just saw you,” while you are physically thousands of miles away... the first explanation that comes to mind is definitely not “maybe someone looked similar”...

His Mom Saw... Herself

Sometimes a “Matrix glitch” story becomes especially strange when two people witness the same moment. A mother and her son were driving along a familiar road when they noticed a woman standing nearby who looked almost exactly like the mother - right down to a similar leather jacket. The only obvious difference was her age: the stranger appeared slightly older.

17.jpg?format=webp

The strangest part is that both of them actually saw her, which makes it harder to dismiss the whole thing as one person's visual mistake. Of course, it could simply have been a woman with an incredibly similar appearance and clothing... but the thought of accidentally driving past your own “double” is pretty creepy.

He Dreamed About A Hotel He Could Not Have Been In Yet...

Dreams sometimes create places that seem completely fictional and then somehow turn out to be real. This person remembered a dream in which he was playing as a little kid with his brothers at a themed hotel. But his mother told him something even stranger - he supposedly should not have been able to remember that hotel because he had not even been born when the family visited it.

18.jpg?format=webp

Then, the very next day, he saw a photograph of the hotel and realized that it looked almost exactly like the place from his dream. Of course, it is easy to suggest that the memory was formed later after seeing the photograph, or that the dream simply happened to resemble the real location. But if the person truly had never consciously seen the hotel before... the story starts sounding very strange...

The Phone Disappeared... Right In His Hand

This is one of those cases where the scariest part is not the object disappearing but the fact that your brain seems to completely stop noticing it. A person spent about fifteen minutes looking for their phone, checked themselves several times and was convinced they did not have it anywhere. They even went into their room to continue searching... only to suddenly realize that they had been holding the phone in their hand the entire time.

19.jpg?format=webp

In reality, this can absolutely happen because of simple inattention - the brain can literally filter out an obvious object when we are focused on searching somewhere else. But the feeling that your own brain “erased” an object from your vision for fifteen minutes can still be pretty unsettling...

The Keys Disappeared In A Tiny Apartment... And Things Got Really Mysterious!

Losing your keys is easy but what makes this story strange is how thoroughly everyone searched for them. The person put their keys on the floor in a friend's tiny studio apartment and, after some time, decided to pick them up... only to discover that they were gone. Several people searched the apartment for an entire hour but the keys were never found. They simply disappeared and never showed up again.

20.jpg?format=webp

Of course, there was almost certainly an ordinary explanation - the keys could have rolled under furniture, ended up inside a bag or somehow been moved somewhere else. But when several people search for one tiny object in a very small room and absolutely nothing turns up, the whole thing starts to feel like a genuine “glitch” in reality.

He Heard A Car That Wasn't There!

Moments like this can be especially frightening when the brain reacts to a sound before you even have time to understand what is happening. A young driver was heading to school early in the morning when, while making a turn, he suddenly heard an extremely loud car horn seemingly right next to him. He panicked, assumed that a car was speeding past him and sharply tried to get out of the way.

21.jpg?format=webp

But there were no cars around at all - no headlights, no taillights, nothing. Maybe the sound came from somewhere completely different, and in a stressful moment his brain simply misjudged its direction. But when you clearly hear a horn right beside you and genuinely think you are about to be hit, only to realize that the road is completely empty... that is definitely the kind of memory that stays with you.

He Came Up For Air... But Was Still Underwater

This story shows just how strange human perception can become. A child was swimming in a lake, jumped from a floating platform, and accidentally had a friend land on top of him, pushing him deeper underwater. He swam upward and was convinced that he had reached the surface... but instead of air, he saw another watery “surface” above him.

22.jpg?format=webp

Only after that did he keep swimming and actually break through the surface. Most likely, depth, light refraction and underwater disorientation played a role - in a situation like that, the brain can easily misjudge the distance to the surface. But the sensation of finally reaching the surface only to discover another layer of water above you sounds like something straight out of a horror movie...

His Student ID Disappeared... And Then Turned Up Around His Neck

Sometimes objects do not really disappear - they simply become so invisible to us that our brain stops registering that they are there. In this story, a student woke up and realized that the ID card attached to a lanyard was not where he normally kept it. He searched his room, backpack, couch, clothes and even checked his own pockets and body. His mother helped him search but they found nothing. He left for class, and while stopped at a traffic light, he suddenly felt something tugging at his neck... and saw the missing ID card. It had been around his neck the entire time.

23.jpg?format=webp

Maybe his brain simply failed to register something completely obvious during the earlier search, especially because he was convinced the card had to be somewhere else. But the moment when you spend ages looking for something only to discover it has literally been on you the whole time... is definitely enough to make you feel a little uneasy...

The Toy Car Disappeared Right Under The Bed...

Childhood memories like this tend to stick especially well because you are convinced you saw exactly where the object disappeared. Here, the child was playing with his brother, and his favorite black Ferrari rolled under the bed. His father immediately moved the bed to get the toy car... but it was not there. His brother had also witnessed what happened, so this was not just one child's memory.

24.jpg?format=webp

Of course, the car could have rolled into some kind of gap, gotten stuck somewhere unexpected, or the child could have misjudged its direction. But when you literally see where an object disappears and a second later it is simply not there... it really does feel as if it just left our reality...

She Learned About A Girl's Death... Before It Even Happened

This story sounds much more serious than an ordinary coincidence. The girl claims that she once saw an article online about the death of an unknown woman who had been found in a hotel freezer. About two weeks later, her mother showed her the same article... only it turned out that the tragedy had happened just a day or two earlier. On top of that, the headline and photos were supposedly exactly the same. Maybe there was a memory error, confusion over publication dates, or the brain later connected two similar events.

25.jpg?format=webp

But her mother's story is even stranger, as she supposedly predicted the deaths of several well-known people in Mexico after having a dream, including the order and circumstances of their deaths. Proving something like that without records made before the events is practically impossible... but stories like these do make people wonder whether the brain can sometimes notice something before our conscious mind does...

During A Storm, The Radio Started Playing Music That Didn't Exist!

Sometimes a “glitch in the Matrix” does not involve objects at all but rather what we hear. The person was inside a Blockbuster during a severe thunderstorm when, after an almost direct lightning strike, the radio suddenly switched from normal pop music to completely unknown songs. They sounded like real tracks with English lyrics but none of them could be identified...

26.jpg?format=webp

After the next lightning strike, the radio went back to the familiar music. Most likely, there was a technical explanation - interference, a signal malfunction, another radio station bleeding through, or some kind of distortion caused by the storm. But when you hear songs that you later cannot find anywhere... it is hard not to feel like you witnessed some very strange glitch...

The Soldering Iron Disappeared... Then Turned Up Right In Front Of Him

A garage is the perfect place for stories like this because there are always tons of small objects and tools that can easily get lost. But here, the person dropped a gas-powered soldering iron, stopped hearing the burning sound, and assumed it had gone out. He spent a long time searching for it among all the stuff... and then suddenly heard the familiar sound of burning gas again.

27.jpg?format=webp

The soldering iron was calmly sitting on its built-in stand right next to where he had been working, with the solder still melted on the tip. Maybe it somehow landed directly on the stand, and in the stress of the moment he simply did not notice it. But the strangest part is that similar things had happened with bolts and screws - he would see them fall, lose sight of them, and then find them literally right where he had been working...

He Blinked... And Suddenly It Was Daytime

This story is especially creepy... The child could not fall asleep and was lying awake at night, staring at a completely dark window. He blinked... and suddenly saw daylight, while, according to his perception, the position of his body and everything in the room had not changed at all. The most obvious explanation is that he may have fallen asleep without realizing it for a short time and then woken up in the morning.

28.jpg?format=webp

When a person is somewhere between sleep and wakefulness, the brain really can perceive time and the world around them in very strange ways. But to the child himself, it felt completely different - as if several hours had simply disappeared between two blinks... and night had instantly turned into day...

He Saw His Mom Outside The Window... But She Was Already Inside The House

Sometimes the strangest part is not what happened but who exactly you saw. The person noticed his mother coming out of a path near the house and walking toward the front. He called out to her from the window but the woman simply looked at him and walked away. When he went downstairs, his mother was already in the study and apparently had never gone outside at all.

29.jpg?format=webp

Of course, there could be a perfectly rational explanation - another woman might have looked like his mother, while distance and lighting could have fooled his eyes. But when you are convinced that you recognized the person closest to you, only to discover a few minutes later that she is somewhere completely different... the brain is not exactly ready to accept that reality...

After A Horrific Crash, Nobody Could Figure Out What She Hit!

This story is especially frightening because of how badly the car was destroyed. The girl was involved in an accident after which the vehicle looked as if it had crashed into a massive concrete wall at high speed: the windows were smashed, the front end was completely deformed, and the steering wheel and dashboard had shifted almost toward the passenger side. Yet somehow, the girl survived and was able to walk and talk. Then came the biggest question... what exactly had she crashed into?

30.jpg?format=webp

Neither she, her boyfriend, nor the police who arrived could find another car, a pole, a wall, or any other obvious object that could have caused such a powerful impact. Of course, the object could have been removed, the damage could have happened after hitting something that was difficult to notice, or there could have been another cause of the crash. But when a car looks as if it was literally flattened against a wall, and there is no wall anywhere... it really makes you wonder...

The Coasters Disappeared... Then Someone Ordered Them Through Amazon

Something about this is seriously creepy... The person had two identical coasters - one sat on the nightstand and the other on the desk. At some point, both disappeared, and he assumed the cleaning lady might have moved them somewhere. But she had no idea what he was talking about. He then asked his mother where they kept the extra coasters, and she claimed the family had never owned ones like that, showing him a completely different set. The next day, the missing coasters were suddenly back in their usual places... while the ones his mother had shown him had disappeared.

31.jpg?format=webp

And then there was a package at the front door - inside was a brand-new set of exactly the same coasters, and the order had actually been placed through the family's Amazon account, even though nobody admitted to ordering them. Most likely, there is an explanation involving mixed-up purchases, memory, or something someone in the family did... but imagining that entire sequence of events without thinking about a “glitch in the Matrix” is practically impossible...

He Ended Up Underwater... But His Clothes Were Almost Completely Dry

As a child, this person fell over the edge of a small pool and ended up underwater for a few seconds. He clearly remembers looking up at the sky from beneath the water, then sitting up and seeing the water still sloshing around in the pool. It sounds like an ordinary fall... except for one detail that does not seem to fit the memory at all - only the sleeve of his shirt was wet.

33.jpg?format=webp

Maybe the fall was not nearly as deep as he remembers now, or his memory changed some of the details over the years. But when you remember literally being underwater while your clothes are almost completely dry... it is hard not to think that something about the story does not add up.

His Grandpa Came To See Him... Even Though He Was Never There

This is one of those moments that can make your heart practically jump out of your chest. The person was lying in bed in the morning and was convinced that it was almost time to get up: he heard his sister getting ready for school, and then his grandpa knocked on the door and asked if he was okay. Everything seemed completely normal... except for one thing. When the person finally got up and looked at the clock, it was only 6:40, even though he was convinced it was almost 7:30.

34.jpg?format=webp

His sister was actually still asleep, and his grandpa, who lived ten minutes away, had never come over at all. This sounds very much like an unusual episode between sleep and wakefulness - the brain can create sounds, voices, and entire scenes so realistically that a person experiences them as if they are actually happening. But the idea that you spent several minutes talking to someone who was physically nowhere nearby... is pretty creepy.

He Remembers An Entire Room Being Taken Out Of The House

Childhood memories can be incredibly strange, especially when they come from the age of three or four. This person had remembered for years a room in an apartment, a large window, and a man who supposedly came in with a long pole with a hook and literally “removed” the entire room. After that, according to the memory, a small closet containing heating equipment was left in its place.

35.jpg?format=webp

Obviously, it is impossible to literally carry away an entire room with a hook... so most likely, the child's brain somehow processed ordinary renovation work, rearranging furniture, or a change in the space and turned it into a completely surreal story. But the most interesting part is that the person remembers the place so clearly that he still does not know where the memory ends and the imagination begins...

The Wrong Games Were In The Box... Then They Simply Changed

When you are seven or eight years old, getting the video game you have been waiting for can feel like a historic event. So it is no surprise that this person still clearly remembers opening a package with Super Mario Galaxy and finding completely different PS2 games on purple discs inside. More importantly, his father was right there and saw them too. The child was disappointed and went to his room but about fifteen minutes later he opened the boxes again... and found exactly the games he was supposed to receive in the first place.

36.jpg?format=webp

The strange PS2 discs never appeared again. Of course, there could have been a simple mix-up with the discs, a memory error, or something related to childhood perception. But if another person also saw what was originally inside the box, the story becomes much more interesting... so where did the first discs go?

Hair Dried In A Matter Of Seconds!

Sometimes a “glitch” lasts literally a few seconds, and that is exactly what makes it even creepier. The person had just gotten out of the shower, his hair was wet, and he started getting dressed. Then he looked up and somehow his hair was already completely dry and even combed. The most obvious explanation is that he could have absentmindedly wiped or dried his hair and simply failed to register that moment in his memory.

37.jpg?format=webp

We constantly perform familiar actions on autopilot, especially in the morning, so the brain can easily fail to store a few seconds of completely ordinary activity. But the feeling that you just saw your hair soaking wet, only for it to suddenly become dry and neatly styled... sounds like the most ordinary possible “Matrix glitch.”

She Lost Five Minutes... After One Phone Glitch

The strangest part of this story is the feeling of time itself. The person was listening to music on his phone, checked the time, and realized he had about five minutes left before work started. Then the song suddenly glitched for about half a second, and immediately afterward the screen already showed 11 o'clock. The security guard told him that he was late and needed to run. So, subjectively, the person had literally lost several minutes between two moments.

38.jpg?format=webp

In reality, our perception of time can become heavily distorted, especially when we are focused on music or something else, and the playback glitch could have made the sudden “jump” feel even more dramatic. But when you look at your screen and see a completely different time than the one you expected to see a second earlier... the brain definitely starts to panic.

His Classmates Ended Up Behind Him... Even Though He Saw Them Go Ahead

Déjà vu is usually just experienced as a strange feeling of familiarity but this situation looks much more specific. The person was walking to the bus stop with several classmates who were ahead of him. He clearly saw them cross the road and head toward the stop. He reached it a little later, sat down, and looked back... only to suddenly see those exact same classmates just approaching the crosswalk. Somehow, they had ended up behind him even though they had literally just been ahead of him.

39.jpg?format=webp

Of course, different routes, a distorted perception of distance, or an ordinary memory error could have played a role - especially if everything happened quickly. But these are exactly the kinds of moments that make someone replay the same scene in their head for years: if I clearly saw them go ahead... how did they end up behind me again?

She Met A Girl... Who Was Her Exact Double

Sometimes a “glitch in the Matrix” doesn’t look like a disappearing object or a strange case of déjà vu but like meeting your double...The author’s friend was in fifth grade and at her younger brother’s soccer practice when she met a girl who had the exact same hair color and length, the same steel-blue eyes, the same clothes, the same name, and even the same interests. But things became truly strange when a husky appeared nearby - and the girl reacted to it just as strongly and irrationally as the author herself once had... meaning even their fears were identical!

40.jpg?format=webp

Maybe it was simply an incredible series of coincidences, amplified by childhood memories and similar interests. But if you imagine that somewhere there really was a person with your name, your appearance, and practically your personality... it’s hard not to wonder just how many “coincidences” are happening around us...

He Saw Himself In The Hallway Of His House!

Seeing a stranger in your hallway at night is already unpleasant enough but seeing yourself there - that’s a completely different story. The child was sitting in the bathroom, hearing his mother in the kitchen and the television in the living room, and then looked into the hallway and saw his exact double standing there. He rubbed his eyes but the “second him” didn’t disappear, so the child called for his mother. When she came, there was already nobody in the hallway.

41.jpg?format=webp

A few weeks later, something similar happened again, this time in a different part of the house, and the memory was so vivid that the author still remembered it into adulthood. The most likely explanation has to do with the way vision and perception work, or with brief moments when the brain misinterprets a familiar silhouette. But what’s especially creepy here is that the person didn’t experience it as a dream - he continued having an ordinary evening, eating dinner and talking with his family...

He Woke Up Several Times... But Every Time He Ended Up Back In Bed

Some stories about “glitches” don’t require any strange creatures or disappearing objects at all. The person would wake up during the night, get out of bed and walk to the bathroom... and then suddenly wake up in his bed again with the exact same need to get up. He would repeat the same path again and again, each time completely certain that he had finally woken up.

42.jpg?format=webp

This is very similar to false awakenings - a state in which the brain creates the sensation that a person has woken up and is carrying out ordinary actions, even though they are actually still asleep. Sometimes these episodes can literally form a chain, making a person start questioning which moment was real. And that’s exactly why after stories like this, it’s especially unsettling to ask yourself... at what point did you actually wake up?

The Dog Ended Up In Front Of A Train And A Second Later Was Already Standing Beside Them...

There are stories that are frightening not because of anything mystical but because you physically cannot understand how everything ended well. A group of friends was walking along the railroad tracks at night with a dog named Dean. They heard a train, managed to get off the tracks but the dog broke free from its leash and ran straight toward the train. The friends were screaming, the train was approaching, and at one point there were only a few centimeters between it and the dog... and then Dean was somehow already standing beside them.

43.jpg?format=webp

The dog may have suddenly jumped to the side at the last moment, while the stress and limited field of vision simply prevented the people from noticing its movement. But if several people saw the exact same scene and none of them understood how the dog managed to escape... it’s no wonder that this story still seems impossible to them.

He Saw This Question... Even Though It Seemed Like He Was Reading It For The First Time

Sometimes déjà vu is so strong that a person starts questioning not what is happening around them but the very sequence of their own memories. The author suddenly felt certain that he had seen this exact question the day before, even though objectively he couldn’t explain where exactly. These are the kinds of moments that create the feeling that reality has already been played out once in front of you, and now it is simply repeating itself.

44.jpg?format=webp

In reality, déjà vu can happen because of the way memory works, when a new perception mistakenly receives a feeling of familiarity. The brain doesn’t always tell us exactly where that feeling came from, so all that remains is the strange sensation: “I’ve already seen this.” And if it’s strong enough... for some reason, the first thing you really start suspecting is not your memory but that very Matrix!

At Work, People Keep Ending Up Where They Shouldn’t Be

Sometimes a place itself starts to feel strange, especially if the same situation happens too often. The author says that at work, they regularly notice someone turning a corner, only to see that same person walking in the opposite direction a few seconds later, even though physically they shouldn’t have had enough time to get there.

The layout of the building, multiple exits, unnoticed intersections, or simply moments when a person stops tracking someone else for a few seconds could all play a role here. But what’s interesting is the repetition itself: when something like this happens again and again, the brain starts looking for a pattern even where there may not be one. And after several experiences like this, a workplace can genuinely start to feel like a space with its own set of rules...

He Tried To Move His Hand... But His Hand Wouldn’t Move

This is one of those cases when your own body suddenly starts to feel like something completely unfamiliar. The person was woken up by his mother but he wasn’t fully awake yet, sat up in bed and tried to move his hand. The hand didn’t move, even though he simultaneously felt both the actual position of his limb and the movement he was trying to make. Something like this is very similar to the state between sleep and wakefulness, when the brain is already partially active while the body is still in a state of sleep-related inhibition.

That’s exactly why the sensations can feel completely unreal - you simultaneously understand that you’re trying to move and feel that your body isn’t listening to you. For someone who has never experienced anything like this, a few seconds of such a state can easily feel like a genuine “glitch” in their own body.

He Looked Into An Endless Hole Right On The Beach!

At first glance, this story sounds like a scene from a science-fiction movie. On the beach, the person noticed an opening in the ground that, according to them, had no side walls and seemed to continue endlessly in every direction. He even put his head inside and saw a huge empty space, while just a few centimeters away there was sand but beyond that there were no walls visible on either side...

But what’s most interesting is the description itself - not simply a deep hole but the feeling that there was a huge empty space beneath the ground with no boundaries. Memories like this are especially difficult to verify years later, because a person no longer remembers the object itself as much as the impossible feeling they experienced at the time...

He Dreamed About A Theft... And The Next Morning His iPod Was Actually Gone

Coincidences involving dreams always seem especially suspicious, because the event exists in your head first and then suddenly appears in reality. In this story, the person had a dream back in 2008 in which someone stole an iPod from his car. The next morning, he discovered that the iPod had actually disappeared from the car, which had been left in the garage. The strangest thing isn’t even that the theft happened but how precisely the dream matched the real event.

48.jpg?format=webp

Of course, there is a simple explanation: perhaps the brain had already noticed some signs that the car wasn’t secure enough, or the dream simply happened to coincide with an event that could realistically occur. But there’s one more question that the author himself finds funny: why did the thief choose the cheaper iPod?

He Blinked... And A Completely Different Girl Was Already Walking In Front Of Him

An ordinary school hallway can turn into a real “glitch in the Matrix” literally in one second. The person was walking to class and saw a very tall and skinny guy coming toward him, around 5'10. He blinked... and in exactly the same spot, there was now a short girl around 5'4, and it seemed as though she had appeared almost instantly.

49.jpg?format=webp

Of course, this could all be explained by the ordinary movement of people - the guy could have turned, the girl could have been walking nearby, or the person simply might not have noticed the moment when they passed each other. A blink lasts only a fraction of a second but that’s enough for the brain to miss part of what is happening and automatically “connect” two separate moments. But subjectively, it looks completely different: you blink, and the person in front of you has literally changed...

He Saw A Future Class... A Month Before It Happened

Some premonitions are especially difficult to forget when they contain so many specific details. The person remembers that, a few seconds before waking up, he saw a scene with a teacher he didn’t know sitting at a desk and three students sitting in front of an interactive board. He even remembered what the children were wearing - one was wearing a red-and-white polo shirt, the girl had light curly hair, and another student was wearing a white polo shirt with a pineapple on it. About a month later, during a math class, a substitute teacher walked into the classroom and stood exactly behind his desk... and the person recognized the scene from the dream.

Memories of dreams are especially unreliable, though: the brain can fill in details after something happens and create the feeling that the match was much more exact than it originally was. But the more specific details a person remembers in advance - the clothes, the positions of the people, the teacher himself - the stronger the question becomes of why that particular scene appeared in his mind at all before he ever saw it...

He Picked Up A Hitchhiker... And The Man Simply Disappeared Into The Open Field

Sometimes the strangest stories begin in a completely ordinary way - you simply stop on the road and decide to help a stranger. The author was 17 when he picked up a hitchhiker who, less than a minute into the ride, asked to be dropped off next to a huge empty field. The man calmly got out and started walking across the grass, while the driver decided that he was just a little strange and continued driving. But when he looked back a few seconds later, the man was nowhere to be seen...

And this is where things get really interesting: the field was almost completely open, there were no cars, houses, or other people around, and in those 10–20 seconds, the man physically couldn’t have gotten far enough away to simply disappear from view. Years later, the author still tries to come up with a normal explanation - maybe he turned into some barely noticeable dip in the ground? Maybe that really was all it was... But when the only thing you can clearly remember is that a man got out of the car, walked across an open space for a few seconds, and then simply wasn’t there anymore... it’s hard not to keep thinking about a story like that years later.
